Steven Sergio is the Director of Compliance & Operations at RMR Wealth Builders, Inc., where he oversees the firm’s operational systems and regulatory framework with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and service excellence. Since joining RMR Wealth in 2012, Steven has played a central role in the firm’s evolution, developing infrastructure, guiding teams, and implementing solutions that benefit clients, advisors, and internal staff alike.
Steven began his career at RMR Wealth as an intern, where he quickly demonstrated a strong aptitude for process improvement and client service. Over time, he advanced into operations leadership and ultimately earned the role of Chief Compliance Officer for the firm’s Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) in 2019. Today, he leads cross-departmental initiatives that strengthen data integrity, streamline workflows, and ensure adherence to industry regulations.
He holds his Series 66 and Life and Health insurance licenses and has completed the education requirements for the IACCP designation. Steven has led multiple firmwide initiatives, including a comprehensive redesign of RMR Wealth’s compliance program, and contributes through service on internal committees such as the Serving & Giving Committee and Investment Committee subcommittees.
Outside of work, Steven is actively involved in his community, especially at Divine Mercy Academy in Rockaway, NJ, where his two sons attend school. He also volunteers with the Human Needs Food Pantry, in Montclair, NJ, helping coordinate food deliveries to homebound individuals. A firm believer in tradition, Steven cherishes his family’s annual vacation to Wildwood Crest, NJ, where he first met his wife, Loren, and keeps his Italian heritage alive by cooking his grandfather’s meatballs and sauce.
Steven lives in New Jersey with Loren, and their sons Dominic and Matthew. He enjoys coaching youth baseball, golfing, exercising, and spending time with family.
