Tax Forms FAQ

When will my tax forms be available?
  • The schedules above are general timelines. Log in directly to Fidelity or Schwab to see availability for your specific accounts.
  • Fidelity:Log in → Accounts & Trade → Tax Forms & Information.
  • Schwab:Log in → Accounts → Statements & Tax Forms → 1099 Dashboard.
Why didn’t I receive a tax form?
  • Online delivery: If you are enrolled in online delivery, you generally do not receive mailed copies; instead, you get email notifications.
  • Retirement accounts: Dividends/gains in IRAs or 401(k)s are generally not reported on a 1099-DIV because they are tax-deferred.
  • Low earnings: If you earned less than $10 in dividends/gains (for 1099-DIV) or interest (for 1099-INT) and had no withholding, Fidelity and Schwab may not issue a form.
What is a corrected 1099?

A corrected 1099 reflects updated information received after the original form was issued. Revisions are clearly marked. Schwab does not provide expected dates for corrected forms.

Why did I receive a 1099 after a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)?

Form 1099 reports distributions regardless of tax treatment. QCDs are still reported and must be handled appropriately on your tax return.

Why did I receive Form 5498?

Form 5498 reports contributions, rollovers, conversions, and year-end values for retirement accounts. It is purely informational for your records, and Form 5498 is not required to file your tax return.
